The
square located at the serf wall, was formed
stage-by-stage. In 1922 in the square created
under the project of the architect G. Aleskerov,
a monument was set up to great Azerbaijan
satirist Sabir (sculptor Y.Keylihes, architect

scale and is situated near the medieval
wall.
In the fifties the area of the square expanded
noticeably, and its territory was extra
equipped with modern amenities and planted
trees and gardens. There was a necessity
for creation of new monument to the poet
that was set up in the center of the square
in 1958 (sculptor D. Karyagdi, architect
G. Alizade and E. Ismailov).
