In
1969 the project of reconstruction of the
streets Basin and Dmitrov (nowadays named
Fizuli and Badalbayli, architects F. Huseynov,
N. Nagiyev) was worked out in the institute
"Azerbaijan State Project". It
was grounded on necessity of the demolition
of shabby one-two-storied buildings, and
creation of well-equipped boulevard in the
place of old quarters, all along from Square
D. Djabbarli to Square named Fizuli. However
the given project has not been realized
completely. At present reconstruction was
realized only in the part of Boulevard Fizuli
located on the section between avenues Azadlig
and S. Mehmandarov; Damped, not valuable
building up was demolished and water-green
Boulevard was laid out in its place.
The square (architect F. Rustambeyov) represents
a system of interconnected pools with fountains,
promenade paths and areas for rest, drowning
among picturesque greens of trees.
