The
Azerbaijan Republic is the largest state
in the Transcaucases. The territory of Azerbaijan is about
86.6 thousands square kilometers. It is situated on the
north-eastern slopes of the Caucasian mountains, and on
the coast of the Caspian Sea. From the north, it borders
upon the Russian Federation (the Dagestan Republic) and
Georgia. From the west, it borders upon Armenia and Turkey.
From the south it borders upon Iran. Its eastern borders
fall upon the Caspian Sea.
